Trafalgar Theatre

Originally built in the 1930s, the Trafalgar Theatre built its reputation for modern comedies throughout the decade.

During World War II, the Trafalgar Theatre housed revues which had become the most common form of entertainment throughout the West End. In 1942, The Whitewall Follies, featuring Phyllis Dixey (the first stripper to perform in the theatre district) opened at the theatre and became an instant success, remaining in the venue for the next five years.

After the war the theatre turned to comedy, and in the 1980s the venue was renovated and relaunched as a conventional theatre. Following the pandemic, the Trafalgar Theatre was able to undergo construction to return the building to its original form, with a new single auditorium and increased capacity, matching other West End theatres.
