St Martin's Theatre

St Martin’s Theatre on West Street is home to the longest-running play in the world – The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie.

Designed by W.G.R. Sprague, The St Martin's Theatre was originally designed with the intention of it being a pair with the adjacent Ambassadors Theatre. The Ambassadors Theatre opened as planned in 1913, however St Martin's debut was delayed by the outbreak of World War I.

The theatre has played host to many famous British actors including Basil Rathbone (1923) and Henry Daniell (1927). The theatre is home to the longest running play in the world, The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie. It transferred from the Ambassadors Theatre after 21 years in 1974 without missing a performance and celebrated its 70th birthday in 2022.
