This May half term, celebrate the iconic London transport roundel. Starting as a station nameboard, it has become one of the most widely recognised logos worldwide.

Explore the London Transport Museum's range of activities, exploring the long history of the roundel and discover how it continues to be used today.

What's On

Creative Activity: Design a roundel

Get crafty and design your very own London transport roundel: Sessions daily from 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm from 27th-31st May.

Trail: Discover roundels through the years

Learn about how the roundel first became famous and hunt for historic roundels around the Museum's galleries: Available daily between 10am-6pm 25th May-2nd June.

  • Storytelling Sessions (suitable for 0-7 year olds) - Enjoy an interactive storytelling session exploring the journey of two children, one from the present day and another from living 100 years ago. In the session, children will explore how transport routes have changed around London and how to travel safely: 25th-26th May and 1st-2nd June.

  • Tours: Routes through history - For the first time in history, London's overground lines have been given their own names inspired by the history of their routes. Explore the history, meet a suffragette who shares her own story from WWI and hear from the 1970s Tube Guard whose parents came to Britain on the windrush.

  • Climb on Board - climb aboard the historic trains, trams and buses including an iconic red Routemaster

  • All Aboard Playzone - Little ones will love playing bus conductors, repairing a mini Tube train with toy spanners, and working in the ‘Lost Property Office’.
